Dear Covid-19,

Thank you.

Thank you for validating my natural introverted lifestyle. You get me.

Thank you for social distancing.

Thank you for making it a noble deed to order takeout from our local restaurants: and not doing so an act of selfishness. Thank you!

Thank you for bringing families closer together.

Thank you for giving said families a greater appreciation for their children’s teachers and other childcare workers.

Thank you for teaching all of us not to take the little things for granted, like toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Thank you for teaching us not to take the not so little things for granted too, like health, and healthcare workers who put their own health and safety behind caring for others.

Thank you for uniting a divided people against a common enemy.

Thank you for highlighting the indomitable spirit of those who come up with creative solutions in the face of adversity.

Thank you for reminding me of the wisdom of Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”

And thank you for giving me material for this year’s Christmas letter.
