Rosemary Oliver, plus Kate, Henry, and Lilly Oliver are enjoying the fun red Wrangler on this beautiful day that’s a gift from God. Rosemary loves to spend time with her grandchildren, plus their mom and dad. Especially doing school, sports, and church activities together. The other loves of her life are jail ministry, working with the women in an arts, and crafts class and sharing a Bible study.
I was in Jerusalem, my favorite place, in 2012 and discovered this mural on an obscure outside wall by an unknown artist. It immediately grabbed my eyes, mind, heart, and soul and I have loved it ever since. Art is a huge part of my life and this has quickly become one of my favorite paintings because of what it communicates.
Jesus, portrayed in His rich ethnicity, is the center focus as He carries a small weak lamb (me!) He stands amid the busy daily life of the Temple in Jerusalem approximately 2000 years ago. The artist has creatively put a little 20th century boy with his backpack into the scene connecting with the little 1st century girl beside Jesus. For me, this detail makes the mural timeless.
This mural sings of God’s “Amazing Grace”, my favorite song, and proclaims the simple and powerful Gospel message of John 3:16, my favorite verse. Jesus came to be my Shepherd, my Sacrifice, and my Savior.
Is He yours?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16
