Welcome

Each week, we write for five minutes, freely, on a one-word prompt. We write quickly, then post, a flash-mob linking together at Kate Motaung’s site. It’s fun!
This week’s prompt: WELCOME

4431-crown of thorns_edited.630w.tn

His enemies tried to trap Him.

His hometown people turned their backs.

His family kept their distance,

And His authorities planned their attack.

Nowhere was He welcome.

In every place He was gossiped and shamed.

He didn’t change to fit their mold.

He didn’t try to play their game.

He knew it would be painful,

He knew no one could take His place.

He knew the twelve would abandon.

And His Father would turn His face.

He set His glory to the side.

He gave up His throne to hang on a tree.

He made Himself unwelcome.

So His Father could welcome me.

Beautiful, Karen! Such a poignant reminder of all Jesus endured for you. For me. I need to remember this throughout the year. 🙂 Well done, friend!

What simple beauty in your words, my friend. The next time I whine about feeling unwelcome, I’ll remember that Jesus didn’t feel a lot of welcome when he was here on earth.

Such a lovely compilation of words. He became unwelcome in order for Abba to welcome us. Oh my!

Oh yes. If anyone ever felt unwelcome, He did. #fmfparty
